The Hotel Andaluz is the former Albuquerque Hilton Hotel, one of the first hotels built by hotel baron Conrad Hilton, a native of San Antonio, New Mexico. The hotel was built at a cost of $700,000 in 1939, and originally offered 176 rooms. When completed, the Albuquerque Hilton Hotel was the tallest building in the state. Conrad Hilton spent his honeymoon here with actress and wife Zsa Zsa Gabor. The famed lobby of the hotel, in Spanich Colonial Revival style, has long been a magnet for Albuquerque’s social scene. In 2008, owner Gary Goodman completed a major rehabilitation of the property, reinterpreting its gracious architecture and interiors with Moorish themes.
