Located on the grounds of the Luna County Courthouse, the memorial commemorates the soldiers who were part of the 200th/515th Coast Artillery Anti-Aircraft Regiments who took part in the Battle of Bataan with the Japanese in the Philippines in 1942, during the Second World War. Captured soldiers were forced to march in the Bataan Death March where many perished, survivors would be held as prisoners of war for the next 40 months. The 200th and 515th New Mexico Brigade brought home four Presidential Unit Citations and the Philippine Presidential Citation and earned their place in American History.
