Constructed 1940.
Completed in 1940, the post office in downtown Truth or Consequences (known at the time as Hot Springs) was built according to the standardized plan also used for the Deming and Portales post offices, but with less ornamentation. The post office is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The lobby of the building contains a mural by Boris Deautsch which was the winner of a 48 state competition in the Fine Arts Section of the Federal Works Agency. The mural was created in 1940, and while it did not record the authenticity of any dance in detail, it represented the spirit and color of an Indian Bear Dance.
